OBIE Creator Glossary
An AI Hub contains Journeys, Milestones, Steps, and Conversations. This glossary explains those building blocks and the terms you'll use to create content, guide users, and manage access in OBIE.
67 terms. Search by name or browse the sections below.
Building blocks
The people, spaces, and pieces that make up an AI Hub.
AI Hub
The branded space you create on OBIE where users sign in, work through Journeys, and use Conversations. As the creator, you shape its content, appearance, and access.
Conversation
An open-ended AI chat you create for your AI Hub. You define its purpose, prompt, and reference material; users start their own threads inside it. Unlike a Step, a Conversation doesn't have a finish line or completion state.
Creator
The person building and managing an AI Hub: deciding who it's for, what outcome it delivers, and how it guides users. Creator work happens in the management side of OBIE, rather than the user-facing experience.
Journey
A guided path toward one distinct outcome inside your AI Hub. You organize it into Milestones and Steps; users work through it to produce a result worth walking away with. A phase that only makes sense within that path is usually a Milestone, not a separate Journey.
Milestone
A meaningful phase of related work within a Journey. You group Steps into it; users complete those Steps to finish the Milestone. For example, clarifying an audience could be one Milestone within a Journey to create a marketing plan.
OBIE
The Outcome Delivery Platform you use to turn your expertise into guided, AI-powered experiences. You build AI Hubs that help users apply your method and produce results, rather than only consume information.
Outcome
The concrete result a user walks away with, such as a finished plan, profile, script, or decision. As the creator, you design the work around that result, not just around topics to cover or lessons to watch.
Step
One focused piece of work within a Milestone, designed around a clear finished result. You choose how it works and what information it needs; the user completes the work. A Step can ask several questions when they're all needed for the same result.
Thread
One user's ongoing message history within a Conversation. A user can start separate threads for different topics and return to continue each one. The Conversation is the resource you create; the thread is the user's individual chat inside it.
Questions, prompts, and context
What you ask users, what you tell OBIE, and what information carries into the work.
Answer
The information a user submits in response to a Question, such as written text, a selected choice, or an uploaded file. It isn't the same as the output OBIE generates from those inputs.
Base Prompts
The creator settings that describe who your AI Hub is for, its intended outcomes, its tone, and its rules. This area includes the Step Base Prompt and supporting background fields. These are instructions and context for generation, not questions users fill out.
Context
The information OBIE uses to make its response relevant. Depending on the task, this can include the user's answers, Core Question answers, information from selected Steps, and creator-provided guidance or reference documents. Not everything in an AI Hub is automatically included in every response.
Context link
A connection you select so a Step can use information from another Step. Including a source as context and requiring the user to complete that source are different decisions. Check the link's completion requirement when the new work depends on that earlier result.
Core Question
A Step question you mark so its answer carries forward as context for later Steps in the same AI Hub, including across Journeys. The user answers it where it appears in the Step, not in a separate onboarding form. Core doesn't automatically mean Required, and File Upload questions can't be Core.
Document Library
Your account's shared collection of reference files. As a creator, you can select files from it when building content or supplying supported reference material. It's shared across AI Hubs in the account, not a separate library for each AI Hub or an automatic user-facing download area.
Prompt
Instructions you give OBIE about what to produce, how to guide the user, and what boundaries to follow. A Step prompt defines that Step's task; a Conversation prompt guides that Conversation. A prompt isn't the user-facing Question the user answers.
Question
An input you configure within a Step to collect information from the user. OBIE's Builder can suggest and write Questions, but you should review them. A Step can contain several Questions that contribute to one result.
Reference document
A source file you supply to inform a supported build or AI task. How you use it matters: selecting a file to enhance a prompt doesn't automatically attach it to that Step for future responses. A user's File Upload answer is a different way of supplying information.
Required Question
A Question the user must answer before moving on. Required controls progress; Core controls whether the answer carries forward into later Step context. For supported question types, a Question can be either, both, or neither.
Required Step / prerequisite
A Step a user must complete before dependent content becomes available. You set the requirement as the creator. It isn't the same as making a Question required or merely including another Step as context; Conversations can also have required-Step prerequisites.
Right-Fit Client
The description of the person your AI Hub is designed to help, entered under Base Prompts. It's creator-provided background that helps OBIE write for the right audience, not a profile each user is required to complete.
Step Base Prompt
Hub-wide instructions added when OBIE generates Step responses. Use it for shared behavior, tone, or formatting rules; use an individual Step's prompt for that Step's specific task. It doesn't turn a Deliverable Step into an AI-generated Step.
Step types
The kind of work a Step does. These aren't the same as Question types.
Deliverable Step
A Step that assembles selected completed-Step outputs into one live document without AI rewriting. You choose the included sources and their order; users can copy the result or download it as a branded PDF or Markdown file. It has no prompt, Questions, or AI token cost, and it updates when included work changes.
Fixed Guidance Step
An AI-generated Step whose response users can't edit manually. You still write the prompt that guides generation; users can regenerate the response, copy it, or use Enhance with AI. Fixed Guidance doesn't mean static, prewritten content.
Option Step
A Step that asks OBIE to generate several options for the user to choose from. You define the task and number of options. Unlike a Choice Question, the options are generated for the user, not a fixed answer list you write in advance.
Regular Step
An AI-generated Step that uses your prompt, the user's answers, and available context to create a personalized response. Use it for work such as drafting a profile, plan, or script.
Session type
A category of session within a Timeline Step, such as a workshop or presentation. As the creator, you can define session types and their associated Questions and prompts. Here, session refers to a part of the planned event, not a login session or Conversation thread.
Question types and input
How users supply information inside a Step. Voice input is an input method, not another Question type.
Choice
A single-answer Question where you define the available options and the user picks one. It collects a choice from your list; it doesn't ask OBIE to invent options as an Option Step does.
Content (Intermission)
An explanatory content item placed within the Question flow, rather than a request for an answer. Use it to give users text, media, or guidance between the inputs they complete.
Dropdown
A compact, menu-style way for users to choose one answer from creator-defined options. It serves the same single-choice purpose as Choice; the creator selects the format, and the user selects their answer.
File Upload
A Question that asks the user to supply a document as an answer. This is different from a creator adding reference files to the Document Library. File Upload questions can't be marked as Core Questions.
Long Answer
A Question with room for a longer written response, such as a description, story, or explanation. You write what you need to know; the user supplies the detail.
Multiple Choice
A Question that lets the user select more than one answer from options you define. Use it when several answers can apply, rather than asking the user to choose just one.
Short Answer
A Question for a brief written response, such as a name, goal, or short statement. The user writes an answer rather than choosing from preset options.
Building, editing, and publishing
Creator tools and settings, plus the versions and completion messages users experience.
Advanced Mode
The creator option to skip the guided Builder interview and enter content or settings manually. It isn't a more advanced user tier or an experience users must turn on.
Builder History
The record of your creator-side Builder chats, including AI Hub, Conversation, Offer, and editing chats. It helps you return to earlier building work. It isn't the history of users' Conversation threads.
Canvas View
A creator-side visual map of an AI Hub's Journeys, Milestones, and Steps. Use it to inspect and arrange the structure; it isn't one of the layouts users choose for themselves.
Completion dialog / completion popup
A message users can see when they finish work. You configure its content and appearance. A Step can use its own Custom dialog, use the automatic broader completion dialog when applicable, or show none; turning the dialog off doesn't stop progress from saving.
Custom labels
Your names for standard AI Hub areas, such as calling Steps Actions or Conversations Chats. Labels change the wording users see, not the underlying building blocks or what they do.
Draft
Content that hasn't been published for users yet. Builder-created content starts as a draft so you can review it. A draft isn't the same as pending edits to content that's already published.
Edit in Builder
A creator tool for requesting supported changes by chat, reviewing the proposed changes, and confirming what to apply. Existing-content changes can go live when applied, while newly added content can remain draft; always read the review and confirmation.
Linked context version
The version of related Milestone work a user selects to inform another Milestone version. For example, their Client A implementation work can draw on their Client A planning work rather than Client B. This connects user work, not revisions of your creator-authored content.
Milestone version
A separate, named run through a Milestone for one user, with its own answers and progress. You enable versioning when users need to repeat a process for different clients, projects, or periods. It isn't a revision of the Milestone you built.
OBIE Builder
The guided creator tool that asks about your expertise, audience, and intended outcome, then proposes and drafts AI Hub content. You review the structure, Questions, and prompts before publishing. Building a draft doesn't automatically make it available to users.
Pending edits
Changes waiting to be committed through the editor's save action. They aren't the same as unpublished content, and not every action waits for Save Pending Edits. Some operations, including applying reviewed Builder edits, can take effect immediately.
Preview as User
A creator tool for checking the user-facing layout and content experience. It isn't proof that a real user has the correct access, tags, or visibility. Use a separate user account to verify those before launch.
Access, offers, and usage
Who can enter, how people join or buy, and how creator-account AI usage is measured.
Account / organization
The creator-side home for your AI Hubs, team, and shared Document Library. Account-level settings and billing are different from an individual AI Hub's settings. In this sense, account means the business workspace, not one user's login.
Active Offer
A visibility condition that checks whether a user currently has access through a selected Offer. It's different from an offer tag, which can remain after offer access ends.
When Offer Access Ends: Cancellations, Refunds, and Paid-in-Full Plans
Free opt-in
An Offer that lets someone sign up without paying. You configure its page and sign-up details; the visitor submits the form instead of completing a paid checkout.
Free Opt-in, Purchase, or Subscription: Which Offer Type Should You Use?
Free pass
Access you issue to a user for a paid Offer without requiring a purchase. The pass counts as having that Offer until it expires or you revoke it. It's different from changing the Offer itself to Free opt-in.
Hub access
Permission for a user to enter a particular AI Hub. You can grant it directly or through an Offer or automation. Access to the AI Hub doesn't automatically make every Journey, Step, or Conversation visible.
Offer
A free or paid way for people to join your AI Hub, with its own page, access settings, and link. As the creator, you configure what you're offering; visitors opt in or buy through it. An Offer isn't the Journey itself.
Offer page
The visitor-facing page that presents an Offer and leads to sign-up or purchase. You edit its content and style separately from product settings such as price and access. Publishing its page isn't the same as publishing your AI Hub's Journeys.
Overage
AI usage beyond your creator account's included token allowance. Purchased Token Block credit can cover extra usage; otherwise, the uncovered amount is billed at your plan's standard overage rate. This is creator-account usage, not the price a user pays for your Offer.
Payment plan
A Purchase option that splits a fixed price into a set number of payments. It isn't an ongoing Subscription, even when payments are collected monthly.
Set Your Offer's Pricing: One-Time, Payment Plan, Monthly, and Annual
Purchase
A paid Offer with a fixed total price, collected as a one-time payment or a Payment plan. It's different from a Subscription that renews on a recurring schedule.
Free Opt-in, Purchase, or Subscription: Which Offer Type Should You Use?
Subscription
An Offer billing model that charges users on a recurring monthly or annual schedule. In Offer settings, this means what your users buy from you; your own OBIE plan subscription is managed separately under account billing.

Tag
A label attached to a user that can help you organize access or set visibility conditions. Offers and imports can apply tags. A tag isn't proof of a current paid entitlement, because it can remain after an Offer ends.
Team member
A collaborator you invite to help manage your OBIE account and AI Hubs, with permissions determined by their role. This is different from a user working through your AI Hub, and not every team role can access account-owner billing controls.
Token
A unit used to measure information AI processes and generates. Your creator account shares its allowance across its AI usage, including user activity; tokens aren't a fixed count of Questions, Steps, or users.
Token Block
A one-time purchase of extra AI usage credit for your creator account. Unused purchased tokens carry forward to later billing periods. Buying a block doesn't change your subscription plan.
Frequently asked questions
- Why do the names in my AI Hub differ from this glossary?
- Creators can customize labels for areas such as Journeys, Milestones, Steps, and Conversations. This glossary uses OBIE's standard names; a renamed area still serves the same underlying purpose.
- Does deliverable always mean the Deliverable Step type?
- No. A deliverable can mean any finished piece of work a user produces. Deliverable Step is a specific Step type that assembles selected completed-Step outputs without AI rewriting.
- Does publishing content automatically give users access?
- No. Users still need access to the AI Hub, and visibility rules or other restrictions can affect what they can see. Publishing, hub access, and visibility are separate.
- Are Milestone versions the same as drafts or pending edits?
- No. Milestone versions are separate runs of a user's work, such as one run for each client or project. Drafts and pending edits concern content the creator is building or changing.
