Canvas View: See and Rearrange Your Whole Hub

Canvas View is a visual map of your hub. Instead of clicking down through lists — hub, then journey, then milestone, then step — you see the whole structure at once as connected cards, and you can rearrange it by dragging. Open it with the Canvas View button on your hub's Journeys page (or on a journey, to land already focused on it).

The list views and Canvas View are two windows onto the same content. Nothing exists only in Canvas.

When Canvas is the better view

Reach for Canvas when the question you're asking is about shape rather than detail:

• You want to see how many steps are really in each milestone.
• You're rebalancing — one milestone is bloated, another is thin.
• You're reordering journeys, milestones, or steps.
• You're adding several things at once and don't want to navigate back and forth.
• You want to explain your program's structure to a teammate.

Stay in the list views when you're editing one thing: writing a step's prompt, changing settings, publishing.

What you can do here

• Reorder by dragging. Drag a step, milestone, or journey to a new position and the order updates. Drag a step onto a different milestone to move it there.
• Add things in place. Every card has a + button on its lower edge, and the same option in its ⋮ menu — Add Journey on a hub, + Milestone on a journey, + Step on a milestone. You name the new item in a small dialog and it appears in place.
• Open the real thing. Double-click any card to jump to that item's admin page, or use the first item in its ⋮ menu — Hub Overview, Journey Overview, Milestone Overview, Step Overview.
• Copy, move, and delete. The ⋮ menu also offers Copy and Move to another parent — Copy to Milestone and Move to Milestone on a step, Copy to Journey and Move to Journey on a milestone — plus Delete.
• Undo and redo. Undo and Redo buttons appear at the top left after your first change, so an accidental drag is one click away from being fixed.
• Create a new hub. Org Admins get + Create New AI Hub, and canvas will show more than one hub at a time.

Focus: making a big hub readable

A full hub is a lot of cards. Focus narrows the canvas to one branch.

Select the focus button on a card (its tooltip reads Focus on this Journey), or the matching item in its ⋮ menu, and the canvas redraws showing just that branch. An Exit Focus button appears in the top right; selecting it steps back out one level at a time — milestone focus back to journey, journey focus back to the whole hub.

Because focus lives in the page's URL, a focused canvas is also a link you can bookmark or send to a teammate.

Reset Layout: putting the map back

Canvas remembers where you drag cards, so your layout persists between visits. Reset Layout, in the top right, throws those saved positions away and re-draws everything in OBIE's default arrangement.

Three things worth knowing: Reset Layout only affects positions on the canvas — it never changes your content, your order, or what's published. It applies to what you're currently looking at, so with one hub focused it resets that hub rather than all of them. And it's undoable, like every other canvas change. To reset just one branch, use Reset layout in a hub's or journey's ⋮ menu instead.

Moving around

• Scroll to pan across the canvas.
• Use the zoom in, zoom out, and fit-view buttons in the bottom-right controls.
• The lock button in those controls freezes card positions — handy when you're reading a big hub and don't want to nudge anything. Select it again to unlock dragging.
• The minimap in the corner shows where you are in the whole structure; drag it to travel a long way quickly.
• The colored legend above the canvas tells you which color is a hub, journey, milestone, and step. Hovering a legend item highlights that layer.

Good to know

Draft items appear on the canvas with their status, so it's a quick way to spot something you never published. And Canvas View is available to Org Admins, Managers, and Editors — the same people who can edit your hub's structure.
