What Base Prompts Do and How to Set Them

Base Prompts is where you tell the AI who your hub is for, what it's trying to produce, and how it should sound. Everything on this page is background context: the AI uses it when generating step responses, when writing offer pages, and when chatting with your members, so you don't have to repeat the same instructions in every step. If you built your hub with the AI builder, these fields arrive pre-filled from your interview — read them before you launch, because they shape every word the AI writes.

Find them under Hub Settings → Base Prompts. Every field is plain text, and every field is optional. Blank fields are simply left out of the AI's context.

Step Base Prompt

This one is the actual instruction, not background. Whatever you write here is prepended to every regular step generation in this hub — it's the hub-wide system prompt. Use it for rules that must hold everywhere: how long responses should be, what format to return, whether to address the member directly, what never to do. Keep it about how the AI behaves in general, and leave the specifics of any single step to that step's own prompt.

The five context fields

• Right-Fit Client — the specific person this hub is built for. The more concrete the better: "Coaches and course creators who know their work but freeze when telling their own story" beats "small business owners."
• Specific Outcome(s) — the concrete result someone gets from your hub. This is what the AI steers members toward.
• Purpose of AI Hub — your strategic reason for the hub: nurture, sell, onboard, deliver. This is private business context that shapes the AI's angle, and it is never shown to visitors or members.
• Tone of Voice — how the writing should sound. Be specific, or paste a paragraph of your own writing you'd like matched. Vague instructions ("professional") change very little; a sample changes a lot.
• Industry Rules, Regulations & Notes — the constraints the AI must always respect. Words to avoid, claims you can't make, disclaimers that must appear. If you're in health, finance, or legal, fill this in first.

Where these fields actually get used

Understanding this helps you write them well. Together they feed:

• Step AI responses — the Step Base Prompt is prepended at runtime; the context fields inform how step prompts are written and enhanced.
• Offer pages — when OBIE drafts an offer's landing page copy, it grounds the writing in your Right-Fit Client, Specific Outcome(s), tone, and industry rules. Most of what feels "on brand" about a generated offer page comes from this page.
• Offer chat — the AI that answers questions from prospective buyers uses the same background.
• The AI builder — when it drafts or extends your journeys, milestones, and steps.

Change them any time

1. Open your hub, select Hub Settings, then Base Prompts.

2. Edit any field.

3. Select Save.

Changes apply to everything generated after you save. Content that was already generated — existing step prompts, an offer page you've already drafted — keeps the wording it was created with, so regenerate those if you've made a significant change like a new tone or a new audience.

Check it

Open a step in your hub and run Preview as User. If the response reads like it was written for the wrong person or in the wrong voice, come back here before you start editing individual steps — this page is usually the cause, and one fix here beats fifty fixes downstream.
