Customize Completion Popups for Steps and Your AI Hub
Open Step Settings → Completion and choose Custom dialog to show a popup after an individual Step, even before its Milestone is finished. Customize AI Hub, Journey, and Milestone popups under Content → Completion, with your own message, appearance, video, and next-step button.
You can customize the completion popup for your AI Hub, each Journey and Milestone, and individual Steps. Use it to celebrate progress, show a video, and point users to an Offer or another page. An individual Step can show its own popup even when it isn't the last Step in its Milestone.
OBIE calls these popups completion dialogs in Settings. Each item has its own settings, so you can give a small achievement a simple congratulations message and make a bigger completion moment more substantial.
Show a popup after an individual Step
You don't have to wait until a user finishes a whole Milestone to show a completion popup. For example, after the first Step in an introductory Journey, you could celebrate the user's first result, explain what comes next in a short video, and link to your full-program Offer.
- Open your AI Hub, Journey, and Milestone, then open the Step you want to customize.
- Open Step Settings → Completion.
- Under Completion dialog, select Custom dialog.
- Configure the title, message, appearance, and any video or button you want to include.
- Check the Dialog preview, then select Save Pending Edits when you're ready.
The three Step options work differently:
- Automatic: OBIE shows the Milestone, Journey, or AI Hub dialog when completing this Step reaches that completion point. Otherwise, no dialog shows.
- Custom dialog: this Step shows its own dialog when the user completes it, even if other Steps in the Milestone remain unfinished. It replaces any automatic Milestone, Journey, or AI Hub dialog for that completion.
- Off: no dialog or celebration shows for this Step, even if it would otherwise trigger a higher-level dialog. The user's progress still saves.
At most one dialog shows for a Step completion. Choose Custom dialog when you want a message specifically for that Step, and Automatic when you want OBIE to use the broader completion experience.
Customize a Milestone, Journey, or AI Hub dialog
Open the settings for the item whose completion experience you want to change:
- Milestone Settings → Content → Completion
- Journey Settings → Content → Completion
- Hub Settings → Content → Completion
Turn on Completion dialog to show that item's dialog when it's selected by the automatic completion flow. Turn it off to suppress that dialog, including its video, button, and celebration. Progress still saves.
With the Step set to Automatic, completing all the Steps in the current Milestone reaches an automatic completion point. If there are later Milestones in the Journey, OBIE uses the Milestone dialog. At the final Milestone, it uses the Journey dialog if there are later Journeys, or the AI Hub dialog if this is the final Journey.
Those higher-level choices follow the order of your content. They aren't a separate check that the user has completed all earlier Milestones or Journeys. If you turn off the selected higher-level dialog, OBIE doesn't substitute another level's dialog.
Set the message and appearance
The same customization fields are available for Step, Milestone, Journey, and AI Hub dialogs:
- Completion Title: the main congratulations heading.
- Completion Message: your message about what the user achieved or what to do next.
- Completion Icon: choose an icon or upload an image for the dialog.
- Completion Color: choose the dialog's accent color.
- Celebration: choose None, Confetti, Fireworks, Balloons, or Flying hearts.
Leave the title, message, icon, or color blank to use OBIE's default for that dialog. To remove only the animation while keeping the popup, choose None under Celebration rather than turning off Completion dialog.
You can use name values in Completion Title and Completion Message, such as {{hubName}}, {{journeyName}}, and {{milestoneName}}, where that name is available. For example, "You've finished {{milestoneName}}!" stays in sync if you rename the Milestone. The variable chips beside the field show the relevant names for that level.
Add a video
Paste a hosted video's URL into Video Link. Use a YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, or direct video-file link. The dialog includes a player so users can watch your explanation without leaving the popup.
OBIE doesn't start the video automatically. Users press play when they're ready. Leave Video Link blank if you don't want a video.
If OBIE doesn't recognize the URL as a playable video, it shows a warning in Settings and leaves the video out of the dialog. Check the actual playback with a user account, especially if your video host restricts embedding or access.
Add a next-step button and note
Use the Button section to give users somewhere to go after their achievement:
- Enter a Button Label, such as "See the full program" or "Book your next session."
- Under Button goes to, choose An offer page in this AI Hub or A link.
- For an Offer, choose a published page under Offer page. Only live Offer pages in this AI Hub are available.
- For another destination, enter its full URL, starting with https://, in Link. A link opens in a new tab so the user keeps their place. An Offer selection opens that Offer page within the hub.
- Optionally add a Note Heading and Note Text to explain the invitation. The note appears above your button.
The button needs both a label and a valid destination. If its selected Offer is unpublished or deleted, or the link isn't a valid web URL, the button doesn't show. The note only appears when the button appears.
The button opens the destination; it doesn't automatically purchase an Offer or grant access.
Choose whether Continue appears
Keep Show Continue next to the button on if you want users to have both your custom button and the normal route onward through their work. Turn it off if you want only your custom button to appear.
If your custom button can't appear, OBIE doesn't hide the normal Continue action because of this setting. Where the dialog has a Continue or return action, that action remains available. Users can also close the dialog.
Preview, save, and check
Use Dialog preview to review the title, message, icon or image, color, video area, note, and buttons. Select Replay celebration to check the animation again.
The preview is for appearance only. Its buttons don't navigate, and it doesn't save user progress.
Select Save Pending Edits to make your completion changes available to users. If you're offered a choice about other pending sections, save only the intended section or select Save ALL Pending Changes if those edits are ready too. Saving completion settings doesn't publish draft content or grant users access.
Before sharing the experience widely, sign in with a separate user account that has access and complete the intended Step. Check which dialog appears, play the video, and follow the button. For a custom Step popup, test a Step while other Steps in its Milestone are still unfinished so you can confirm the individual-Step experience.
For the broader settings around these completion experiences, see Customize Your Hub, Customize a Journey, and Customize a Milestone.
Frequently asked questions
- Will a custom Step popup also show the Milestone or Journey popup?
- No. A Step set to Custom dialog shows its own popup instead of the automatic Milestone, Journey, or AI Hub dialog. At most one dialog shows for that Step completion.
- Why isn't my custom button or note showing?
- The button needs a Button Label and a valid destination. Choose a live Offer page in the same AI Hub, or use a full web URL under Link. The note only shows when the button shows, and an Offer button disappears if its page is unpublished or deleted.
- Can I keep the popup but turn off confetti or other animation?
- Yes. Select None under Celebration. That removes the animation without turning off the dialog, message, video, or button.
- Does turning off a completion dialog stop progress from saving?
- No. Progress still saves. A Step set to Off suppresses all completion dialogs for that Step; turning off a Milestone, Journey, or AI Hub dialog suppresses that level when the automatic flow selects it.
