How Do I Rename My AI Hub or Change Its URL?
Your hub's name and its URL are two separate fields in Hub Settings → General, and changing one never changes the other. Renaming is always safe; changing the URL breaks links to the old address, because the old subdomain doesn't redirect.
Your hub's name and its web address are two separate fields, and changing one never changes the other. Both live in Hub Settings → General: AI Hub Name is the display name members see, and AI Hub URL is the subdomain your hub answers on. OBIE only derives the URL from the name once, when the hub is first created — after that they stay independent.
Rename your AI Hub
1. Open the hub you want to change, then select the AI Hub Settings card on its dashboard. (From the Your AI Hubs list you can also open a hub's ⋯ menu and select Settings.)
2. On the General tab, edit AI Hub Name.
3. Select Save.
There's a shortcut if the name is all you're changing: on the Your AI Hubs list, open the hub's ⋯ menu, select Rename, type the new name, and select Rename.
The new name appears immediately in your hub list, in your hub's header, and anywhere the hubName variable is used — including your welcome email subject and template. Your URL is untouched, so every existing link keeps working.
Change your AI Hub URL
1. Go to Hub Settings → General (the AI Hub Settings card on your hub's dashboard) and find AI Hub URL.
2. Replace the subdomain in the left box. The .obie.io suffix is fixed and can't be edited.
3. Wait for Subdomain is available to appear underneath. If another hub already uses that subdomain, you'll see an error instead and won't be able to save.
4. Select Save.
Subdomains can use letters, numbers, and hyphens, up to 48 characters, and each one has to be unique across OBIE — a subdomain already in use will be rejected.
What changing the URL affects
Your old subdomain stops working. OBIE does not redirect the previous address to the new one, so any link a member has bookmarked, any URL in an email you already sent, and any link on your website will break. Update those links yourself after you save.
Renaming is safe to do any time. Changing the URL is best done early, before you've shared the address widely — or paired with a custom domain, which lets you keep a stable public address even if the underlying subdomain changes.
Check it
Open Hub Settings → General, confirm both fields read the way you want, then select Preview as User from your hub's home page. The address bar shows the URL members will use, and your hub's header shows the name they'll see.
Frequently asked questions
- Does renaming my hub change its URL?
- No. The URL is only generated from the name when the hub is first created. After that, renaming leaves the subdomain exactly as it is.
- Will my old hub URL redirect to the new one?
- No. Once you save a new subdomain, the old address no longer resolves to your hub, so update any links you have already shared.
- Why won't my subdomain save?
- Another hub is already using it. Pick a different subdomain and wait for the "Subdomain is available" confirmation before saving.
- Can members see the old name anywhere?
- Emails you already sent keep the old name, because the hub name is filled in at send time. Everything inside the app updates right away.
