Hub SEO Settings: Titles, Previews, and Indexing
Under Hub Settings → Advanced → SEO you set the meta title, meta description, and social share image used in search results and link previews, plus an SEO switch that asks search engines not to index your hub's public pages when off.
The SEO page controls how your hub looks to search engines and in link previews — the title, the description, and the image that appear when someone shares or finds your hub — plus whether search engines are allowed to index it at all. It's four fields under Hub Settings → Advanced → SEO, and they only affect your hub's public pages, not the member experience behind login.
The four fields
1. Meta title — the text shown in browser tabs and as the headline of a search result. Leave it blank and OBIE uses your hub's name. Set it when the searchable phrasing should differ from your hub's name — "Story-Led Selling for Coaches" rather than "Jane's Hub". Aim for roughly 60 characters so it isn't cut off.
2. Meta description — the short summary under the title in search results and in link previews when your hub is pasted into Slack, iMessage, or social. Around 150 characters. Write it as what the visitor gets, not a slogan.
3. Social share image — the preview image shown when a link to your hub is shared. 1200×630 is the recommended size; anything much narrower gets cropped awkwardly. If you skip it, platforms fall back to whatever they can find, which is usually not what you'd choose.
4. SEO enabled — a switch, on by default. When it's on, search engines may index your hub's public pages. Turn it off and OBIE asks search engines not to index them; the label changes to SEO indexing is disabled so you can see the state at a glance.
Set them
1. Open your hub, select Hub Settings, then SEO under Advanced.
2. Fill in the fields you want to override, and upload a share image.
3. Select Save.
When to turn indexing off
Turn it off while you're still building, if your hub is for one private client group, or if you're using a paid-ads-only funnel and don't want the hub competing with your main site in search. Turn it on once your offer pages are public and you want them found.
Two caveats. Turning the switch off is a request, not a wall — it asks search engines not to list your pages, and listings that already exist can take time to disappear. It's also not access control: your hub is invitation-based regardless, so members still need to be granted access either way. If your goal is privacy rather than search hygiene, that's what member access is for.
Check it
Paste a link to your hub into Slack or a text message and look at the preview: title, description, and image should be the ones you set. If it still shows the old values, the platform has cached the preview — most caches clear within a day, and adding ?v=2 to the URL forces a fresh look. To confirm indexing, search site:yourhub.obie.io in Google; a new or newly-enabled hub can take days to appear.
Frequently asked questions
- Does turning off SEO make my hub private?
- No. It asks search engines not to index your public pages. Access is always controlled by member permissions, not by this switch.
- What size should the social share image be?
- 1200x630 pixels. Keep text large and centered, since some platforms crop the edges.
- Why does my link preview still show the old title?
- Social platforms cache previews. Wait a day, or append something like ?v=2 to the URL to force a refresh.
- Do these settings apply to my offer pages?
- They set your hub's defaults. Offer pages are public pages of your hub, so what you set here is what a shared offer link falls back to.

Under Hub Settings → Advanced → Analytics you paste one ID per platform — GA4, Google Tag Manager, Meta, TikTok, LinkedIn, Microsoft Clarity, Pinterest — and OBIE injects that platform's standard script on your hub's public pages. Blank fields are skipped.
