Customize the Free Sign-up Form and Popup

Selling & Payments

Choose a free offer's contact fields under Collect on signup on the Product tab and save, then edit popup wording in Free Sign Up on the Content tab. Select Publish to update the live page; email and name are always included, and phone and address can be added.

On a free offer, choose which details the form asks for under Collect on signup on the Product tab, and change its wording in the Free Sign Up section on the Content tab. Save your field choices, then select Publish to put the updated form and popup on the live page. Email and first and last name are always included; you can add phone number and address.

Choose what the form collects

Open your hub, select Offers, and select your free offer. On the Product tab, find Collect on signup. It only appears when the offer's access type is free.

  • Email and First & last name are always on and can't be turned off.
  • Phone number adds a phone field.
  • Address adds a mailing address field. It needs a phone number too, so turning on Address also turns on Phone number, and turning off Phone number also turns off Address.

Select Save when you're done. On an already-live page, you'll see Edits pending. Select Publish to show the updated fields to visitors.

On the form itself, users must fill in their first name and email, plus phone number and address when you've turned them on. Last name is optional for them. Only ask for what you'll actually use, since every extra field is one more reason for someone to stop.

Change the popup's wording

On the Content tab, select Free Sign Up in the section list. It sits just below the hero, and it's always there on free offers, so you can't hide, remove, or move it. Its drawer has three fields:

  • Headline: the large text at the top of the popup. If you leave it blank, users see "You're Almost In".
  • Subhead: the line under the headline. If you leave it blank, users see "Pop in your details and we'll set up your access."
  • Button label (optional): the text on the popup's submit button. If you leave it blank, it uses the hero's button label, so the button matches the one users just selected.

These changes save to your draft as you type. Like the rest of the page's content, they don't reach visitors until you select Publish. See Preview, Publish, and Unpublish Your Offer Page.

What happens after someone submits

OBIE registers the user for your hub and signs them in. Your hub's access requirements still apply. They land wherever the offer's After sign-up setting points, subject to that content's visibility rules, and get the offer's access email if it has one. See Choose Where Users Land After Sign-up or Purchase and Customize the Access Email Sent After Sign-up or Purchase.

If someone enters an email that belongs to a creator or team member on your account, OBIE sends them to the login page instead of creating a new sign-up.

Frequently asked questions

Can I collect an address without a phone number?
No. Address requires phone number, so turning on Address also turns on Phone number.
Can I remove the name field from the sign-up form?
No. Email and first and last name are always included. Users must enter a first name, but last name is optional for them.
Does a paid offer use this popup?
No. The Free Sign Up popup and Collect on signup only appear on free offers. Paid offers send buyers to checkout instead.
I changed the form or popup but visitors still see the old version. Why?
Both popup wording and contact-field choices wait for page publication. Select Save for changed contact fields, then Publish to update the live page. Until then, visitors see the last published form and popup.
