Customize the Access Email Sent After Sign-up or Purchase

Selling & Payments

Open the offer, go to the Product tab, and select Emails to edit the access email's Subject and Body. It's sent when someone signs up for a free offer or buys a paid one, includes a set-password link, and isn't sent at all if the body is empty.

Each offer can send its own access email. Open the offer, go to the Product tab, and select Emails to edit the Subject and Body, then select Save. Free offers send it when someone signs up, paid offers send it when someone buys, and it includes a link for the user to set their password. If you leave the body empty, no email is sent.

Edit the email

Open your hub, select Offers, and select the offer. On the Product tab, select Emails. The note at the top tells you when this offer's email goes out: Sent when someone signs up for this offer. for a free offer, or Sent when someone buys this offer. for a paid one.

1. Enter a Subject. If you leave it blank, OBIE uses Your {{offerName}} access is ready.

2. Write the email in Body.

3. Select Save. You'll see Access email saved. and the next person who signs up or buys gets the new version.

When you create an offer, OBIE usually drafts this email for you based on your hub's welcome email, so you may already see a subject and body here. Edit it so it sounds like you.

Use variables

Variables fill in details for each user. Type them exactly as shown, including the double curly braces.

  • {{userName}}: the user's name.
  • {{offerName}}: the offer's name.
  • {{hubName}}: your hub's name.
  • {{resetUrl}}: the link the user selects to set their password.
  • {{hubUrl}}: your hub's login page.
  • {{ownerName}}: the account owner's name for free sign-ups, or the creator's first name for paid purchases.

The Subject supports {{offerName}}, {{hubName}}, and {{userName}}. The Body supports all six.

Keep {{resetUrl}} in the body. It's how new users set a password and get back into your hub later. The link expires after 72 hours, so a user who misses it can use the forgot-password option on your login page.

Who it comes from

The from name and reply-to address come from your hub's Welcome Emails settings, not from this drawer. If replies should go to a specific inbox, set that once for the hub and every offer's access email uses it. See Customize Your Welcome Emails.

Turn the email off

To stop an offer from sending an access email, clear everything in Body and select Save. A blank subject alone doesn't turn it off, because OBIE falls back to the default subject.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change who the access email comes from?
Yes, but not in the offer. The from name and reply-to address come from your hub's Welcome Emails settings and apply to every offer.
How long does the set-password link work?
The link in the access email expires after 72 hours. After that, users can reset their password from your hub's login page.
Do people who already signed up get the new version?
No. Saving changes only affects emails sent after you save. Nothing is re-sent to people who already signed up or bought.
Why didn't my user get an access email?
Check that the offer's Body isn't empty, since an empty body means no email is sent. Also ask the user to check their spam folder.
