Upload Custom Icons in Your AI Hub
Open an icon chooser, select Upload image, and choose a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file up to 10 MB. Crop it in Resize image, select Save Image, then preview and save the settings.
You can use your own images as icons for Journeys, Milestones, Steps, Conversations, and the Journeys and Conversations sections. Open the icon chooser, select Upload image, choose your file, and crop it before saving. You can also upload images for completion-popup icons.
Choose where the icon will appear
Open the settings for the part of your hub you want to change:
- Journeys section: open Journeys → Page Settings → Customize.
- Conversations section: open Conversations → Page Settings → Customize.
- An individual Journey, Milestone, or Step: open that item, then select Settings → Customize.
- An individual Conversation: open its settings, then select Customize.
- A completion popup: open that Hub, Journey, Milestone, or Step's Content → Completion settings. For the hub itself, start at Hub Settings → Content → Completion.
Section icons and individual content icons are separate. For example, changing the Journeys section icon doesn't change the icons for the Journeys inside it.
Upload your image
1. Select the current icon or the Click to choose control.
2. In Choose an Icon, select Upload image.
3. Select Click to upload or drag and drop, then choose your file. You can also drag the file into the upload area.
Use a PNG, JPEG, or WebP file up to 10 MB. If you want a transparent background, use a PNG.
Frame it for small sizes
4. In Resize image, drag to reposition your image and use Zoom to frame it.
5. Check the Rounded square, Circle, and smaller-size previews. Keep the important detail near the center, since circles trim the corners.
6. Select Save Image. OBIE crops and resizes the image automatically.
A simple symbol or logo mark usually works better than a detailed photo or a logo with small text. If OBIE says the image is too detailed for an icon, try a simpler image.
Save and check the result
After uploading, the icon field shows Custom image. Select Preview to check how it looks, then save the settings with Save Changes or Save Pending Edits, depending on the page.
If you're offered a choice, save only the section you're editing unless the other pending changes are ready too. Save Image uploads the image into your settings; it doesn't replace the page's final save.
Replace an image or return to the icon library
To replace an image, open the icon chooser again and select Upload image.
To use a built-in icon instead, select Icon library and choose an icon. That replaces the custom image. You can also select Remove image beneath the icon field to return to the saved library icon or the default icon.
Preview the result and save the settings again.
Frequently asked questions
- Does changing a section icon change all the icons inside it?
- No. The Journeys and Conversations section icons are separate from the icons for individual Journeys and Conversations. Upload an image in each item's own settings if you want to change it.
- Can I keep a transparent background?
- Yes. Upload a PNG with a transparent background. OBIE preserves transparency when it processes the icon.
- Can I upload an SVG or GIF?
- The upload control accepts PNG, JPEG, and WebP files up to 10 MB. Export your artwork in one of those formats before uploading.
- Can I upload an image for a question's help-button icon?
- Not with this upload option. Custom image uploads are available for section icons, individual content icons, and completion-popup icons. Step and question help-button icons still use the icon library.
