Change a User's Name or Email Address

Members & Access

Open the user's row on the Users page, select Edit from the menu, and update their first name, last name, or email address directly in the dialog.

You don't need to delete and re-add someone to fix a typo or update their details. Every user's name and email can be changed in place from the hub's Users page.

How to edit a user

  1. Open your hub and go to the Users page.
  2. Find the user you want to update.
  3. Click the (three-dot menu) on their row and select Edit.
  4. In the Edit User dialog, update the First Name, Last Name, or Email fields.
  5. Select Update to save your changes.

What happens when you change an email

When you update a user's email address, OBIE resets their welcome-email status. That means you can send a fresh welcome email to the new address so the user can set up their password and sign in. The previous email address no longer works for login.

The new email must be unique — if another user in your organization already uses that address, OBIE shows an "Email address is already in use" error and the change won't save.

Other fields you can update

The same Edit User dialog also lets you update the user's tags and hub access settings — including granting, removing, or date-limiting access to specific hubs in your organization.

Frequently asked questions

Can I change my own email address as a creator?
No. Creators cannot change their own email from the dashboard. Contact OBIE support to update your creator email address.
Does changing a user's email affect their progress?
No. Journey progress, analytics, and access records stay with the user's account. Only the email they use to sign in changes.
Who on my team can edit users?
Org Admins, Managers, and Editors can all edit user details from the Users page.
