Where Can I Add Video in My AI Hub?
You can add video to eight user-facing areas: the hub home, the Journeys page, a journey's milestone page, a milestone's step page, step help, question help, a Content (Intermission), and the Conversations page. Put each video where users will need that specific explanation.
Video can support users in eight user-facing areas in your AI Hub: the hub home, the journey listing page, a journey’s milestone listing page, a milestone’s step listing page, a step’s help dialog, a question’s help dialog, and a Content (Intermission) inside a step, plus the Conversations page. Choose the placement based on what the video needs to explain, then add it in that page or item’s Content settings.
Before you add a video
Use each video for the decision or task directly in front of the user. A short, specific video is usually more useful than repeating the same general welcome video throughout the hub.
In Explainer Image / Video or Help Image / Video, choose Video, then add the video URL. OBIE supports YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, Membership.io, and supported direct video file URLs. Use Preview to confirm the video and the surrounding text work together before you save or publish your changes.
1. Welcome users on the hub home
Where to add it: Hub Settings → Content → Welcome & Explanation → Explainer Image / Video
Use this video as the welcome to the entire hub. Explain who the hub is for, what users can accomplish there, and how to orient themselves before choosing where to begin.
Keep this overview broad. Save detailed instructions for the journey, milestone, step, or question where the user will need them.
2. Introduce the available journeys
Where to add it: Open the hub’s Journeys page, select Page Settings → Content, then use Journeys Explainer Image / Video.
Use this video to explain the journeys available in the hub. Help users understand what outcome each journey delivers and how to choose the right one.
This is especially helpful when the journeys serve different goals, experience levels, or starting points.
3. Explain the milestones inside a journey
Where to add it: Open the journey, then select Settings → Content → Welcome & Explanation → Explainer Image / Video.
Use this video to introduce the journey and explain why its work is divided into milestones. Give users a clear picture of the progression, what each phase contributes, and what they’ll have when the journey is complete.
The video appears in the journey’s explainer area above its milestones.
4. Explain the steps inside a milestone
Where to add it: Open the milestone, then select Settings → Content → Welcome & Explanation → Explainer Image / Video.
Use this video to explain what the milestone covers, why its work is divided into these steps, and what users should expect as they move through them.
The video appears in the milestone’s explainer area above its steps.
5. Explain what a step will produce
Where to add it: Open the step, then select Settings → Content → Explainer Image / Video.
Use this video to explain the step’s purpose and the result the user is working toward. It’s a good place to clarify the expected completion or output before the user answers the step’s questions.
Users open this content from the step’s question-mark help icon, so keep it focused on information that supports the step as a whole.
6. Give context for a specific question
Where to add it: Open the step’s Questions, add or edit a question, then use Help Image / Video in the question’s help content.
Use this video when a user needs extra context to understand or answer one question. You might define a term, explain what a strong answer includes, show an example, or clarify why you’re asking.
Users open this video from the question’s question-mark help icon. Because it’s optional help, put anything every user must see in the question itself or in a Content (Intermission).
7. Teach between questions with Content (Intermission)
Where to add it: Open the step’s Questions, select Add Question, choose Content (Intermission), then add the video under Help Image / Video.
Use a Content (Intermission) when every user should pause for a short explanation, demonstration, or piece of training before continuing to the next question. It appears directly in the question sequence and does not collect an answer.
Add a Help Title and Help Body so users understand why the video is there and what to take from it. Use intermissions as transitions within a step, not as a repeat of the milestone introduction.
One additional placement: the Conversations page
Where to add it: Open the hub’s Conversations page, select Page Settings → Content, then use Conversations Explainer Image / Video.
Use this video to explain what Conversations are for, what support users can get there, and when they should choose a Conversation instead of continuing a Journey.
Choose the right placement
- Hub home: Welcome users and explain the purpose of the whole hub.
- Journey listing page: Explain the available journeys and help users choose one.
- Milestone listing page: Introduce the journey’s phases and progression.
- Step listing page: Introduce the milestone’s steps and expected result.
- Step help: Explain the step’s purpose or intended output.
- Question help: Add optional context for one answer.
- Content (Intermission): Deliver required training between questions.
- Conversations page: Explain how and when to use Conversations.
The best check is to preview each placement as a user. Make sure the video answers the question the user is likely to have on that exact screen, without making them hunt for the next action.
Frequently asked questions
- Can I upload a video directly to OBIE?
- For these placements, you add a video URL in Explainer Image / Video or Help Image / Video. OBIE supports YouTube, Vimeo, Wistia, Membership.io, and supported direct video file URLs.
- What's the difference between question help and Content (Intermission)?
- Question help is optional context a user opens from the question-mark icon. A Content (Intermission) appears directly in the question sequence, so use it when every user should see the training before continuing.
- Does a Content (Intermission) collect an answer?
- No. It's a content-only pause between questions and doesn't count as an answerable question.
- Can I use a video without adding text?
- Yes, the video can render by itself. Adding a clear title or short explanation is usually better because it tells users why they should watch and what to take from it.
